Opportunity
There's a real opportunity to enhance user engagement both in and outside the app, via lifecycle flows, retention programs, and a systematic set of reasons for users to keep coming back. This role gets to build that from the ground up. Strong in-app engagement and retention results also make it easier for our Brand Success and Sales teams to acquire and engage new brand partners, so this role's impact shows up well beyond its own metrics — it's one of our highest-leverage hires right now.
About the Role
- Own lifecycle and CRM strategy across email, push, and in-app messaging
- Design and run onboarding flows to drive awareness of the core action loops within the app and continuously get new users to meaningful actions
- Build and optimize activation, conversion, and feature-adoption campaigns in partnership with Product
- Own referral and win-back programs that bring lapsed users back
- Run seasonal and always-on retention campaigns in partnership with Consumer Marketing
- Build the segmentation, testing, and reporting infrastructure this function needs, essentially from scratch
- Report on activation, retention, and engagement metrics that double as proof points for Partner Marketing's brand pitches
About You
- 5+ years of marketing experience, with at least 2 years focused specifically on lifecycle or CRM at a consumer app or subscription product
- Hands-on experience with a marketing automation/CRM platform (e.g., Braze, Attentive, Klaviyo) and an analytics tool (e.g., Amplitude)
- Fluent in the metrics that matter for retention: activation rate, Day-1/Day-7/Day-30 retention, LTV, email/push engagement
- Proven ability to build segmentation logic, run structured A/B tests, and turn results into a repeatable playbook
- Comfortable partnering directly with Product and Engineering to get the instrumentation and product changes lifecycle work depends on
- A bias toward measurement — as comfortable in a dashboard as in a campaign brief
- Excited to build lifecycle infrastructure from zero.
